Alexis Sanchez is set to miss Arsenal’s season opener against Leicester City with a little abdominal strain, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The Arsenal manager confirmed that he will be without the versatile Chilean during his first press conference of the season saying, “He had a little abdominal strain that he caught on Sunday morning in training, before he came to Wembley. He had a scan two days ago and he’s out for a while.”

The manager equally confirmed that he still has fitness concerns over German playmaker Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and defender Per Mertesacker.

Sanchez’s injury has sparked fresh worry among some at Arsenal that the Chilean may be ready to force his way out of the Emirates.

In as much as Arsene Wenger insists that Sanchez is not for sale, his future is uncertain having failed to a sign a new contract worth over £275,000 per-week with just a year left on his current deal.
