The traders, especially those selling groceries, clothes, shoes, mobile phones and fast-food closed their premises expecting no activity on a day the entire attention turned to the task of rioting against IEBC.

Anti-riot police officers were forced to fire in the air and lob teargas to quell a group of chaotic protesters who had blocked and burnt tyres on the road following the call for countrywide demos against the electoral body IEBC by the opposition leaders.

The demonstrations began today morning accompanied by running battles between the police and a section of youths at Kondele area.

Kisumu Woman Representative Rose Buyu and Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Fred Ouda are leading the protests.

The protestors have vowed to continue with the demos to ensure IEBC boss Ezra Chiloba and other officers alleged to have bugled August 8 Presidential poll exit office.
