Chelsea’s players are desperate for new signings to arrive to avoid complacency setting in at Stamford Bridge.

The defending champions lost their opening game of the season to Burnley at home on Saturday and are suffering from a thin squad due to injuries to Hazard and Bakayoko as well as the suspension of Cesc Fabregas and Garry Cahill.

According to the Daily Mirror, some of Antonio Conte’s stars have urged the club to recruit new faces over the remaining weeks of the transfer window, to ensure that none of them is complacent and is kept on their toes.

Chelsea’s failure to strengthen sufficiently ahead of the 2015/2016 season led to their dismal title defense under Jose Mourinho and the club is desperate to avoid such a repeat.

These concerns from the Chelsea players are likely to make the board intensify its activities in the transfer market, with reports emerging that the club is keen on having Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater bolster their midfield.

For now, Antonio Conte has to make do with the available members of his squad as he prepares to face fellow title contenders Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Sunday.
