The Metrological Department has raised the red flag of a possible flash floods in parts of Western,Nyanza,Rift Valley and Central due to heavy rain expected from today.

In an advisory statement,the department urged residents from the  affected to stay alert,adding that heavy rainfall of more than 50mm is likely to occur this evening in some areas of counties around the South Rift region and parts of Aberdare ranges.

Flash floods to affect parts of Western,Nyanza,Central and Rift Valley

On Thursday,according to the advisory, the area under threat may extend to more areas in Western Kenya, Central Rift Valley, the Aberdares and Mt. Kenya Highlands.

The Department says residents in all areas need to watch out for flash floods as some areas which were previously dry may receive heavy rainfall during the late afternoon and in the night.
