Four people have been arrested after they were found in possession of banned plastic bags.

The four were arrested by NEMA officials in Marsabit on Friday.

NEMA Marsabit Director Simon Tunui cautioned the public saying that anyone found with plastic bags risks paying a fine of up to Sh4 million or serve four years in jail.

Those arrested were Osman Khalid, Hirbo Gogo, Jackline Otieno and Jeremiah Ngugi.

The arrest follows a ban on plastic bags that came into effect on August 28, this year.
