Government doctors in Tharaka Nithi to be paid
Doctors working in public hospitals in Tharaka Nithi County will be paid for the time they were on strike, Governor Samuel Mbae Ragwa has said.
Addressing doctors at Chuka Township level 5 hospital, Ragwa said their pay for December, January and February would be credited to their accounts by Friday this week.
He thanked the medics for continuing with their work even without pay.
“You have remained patient all this while and I commend you for the sacrifices you have made to ensure that medical services continued,” he said.
Ragwa called on other cadres in the health profession to emulate the doctors in delivering vital services to members of the public.
The Governor hit out at his political opponents for inciting nurses and other medical workers to frequent strikes that disrupted provision of essential services.
He assured the residents that there would be enough medical supplies in all health facilities, adding that the County Government had streamlined operations in the sector.
