Guardiola in Race against Time to Seal Sanchez Deal
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes that he will capture Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez before the transfer window shuts today at midnight.
Arsene Wenger is willing to sell the Chilean but rejected an opening bid of £50 million.
Manchester City representatives have flown to Santiago ahead of Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Thursdaynight with the objective of rushing through a deadline-day deal.
English winger Raheem Sterling was originally thought to be part of the deal in exchange for Sanchez, but City must now pay cash only and are likely to have to pay closer to £70 million for the Chilean star.
Sanchez has made his desire to link up with Pep Guardiola known all summer and manager Arsene Wenger is aware of the possible disharmony the 28-year-old could spread in case he is forced to see out the final months of his contract.
Guardiola is equally hopeful of sealing a deal for West Brom defender Johnny Evans. The deal for the 29-year-old however, relies on their France defender Eliaquim Mangala, who has to agree to a loan switch to the Hawthorns.
