Vision Ministries Kenya on Wednesday distributed foodstuff to hundreds of residents of the Kerio in Turkana Central.

Leading the team, Ishmael Okuku of Vision Ministries Kenya appealed to other churches, both locally and foreign, to donate foodstuffs to the over 500,000 hunger stricken residents of Turkana.

Okuku, who was accompanied by the donor, a USA missionary Ken Swister, said the
foodstuff was a donation from several foreign churches and expressed regret that the demand way outstripped supply due to a prolonged drought experienced in the area.

John Kaiser, a resident said that it was a challenge that in the 21st century, people still lacked water and food; he asked the government to mitigate the degrading perennial problems.

The foodstuffs donated included maize, beans, rice, cooking fat and salt. Residents
also received soap and box of matches, among others.
