Volvo group announced plans to set up an assembly plant in Mombasa in 2018, after opening a regional office in Nairobi.

The truck manufacturer is hoping the Mombasa plant will produce trucks to serve countries in the East African region. Established in partnership with NECST Motors, the Mombasa plant has a target of 500 trucks a year, scaling to 2000 in the long term.
