We will stop at nothing to protect lives, property -Matiangi
Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has assured Kenyans that the police will stop at nothing to protect lives and property of Kenyans.
Matiangi urged Kenyans to resume their normal duties stating that the state of security in the country was top notch.
“Although there has been erratic unlawfulness being caused by criminal elements that have tried to loot in these places, the country is generally calm” said Matiangi.
Matiangi urged Kenyans to responsibly use the social media adding that it was because of inflammatory messages broadcast in the platforms that risk sparking violence.
He confirmed that the officers have arrested some culprits who are spreading hate messages on social media.
“We have made some arrests” he told a presser at Harambee House on the state of security.
He refuted claims that the police have been using live ammunition on the rioters as reported in the regions that the protests have emerged.
He further urged both local and international media to report responsibly and avoid using old violence footage to portray that the country was insecure.
